COMPANY OVERVIEW
Volans Tequila is born in the Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, at El Pandillo Distillery – NOM 1579. Our Master Distiller, Felipe Camarena is a legend in the tequila business; his family has been growing agave since the 1880’s & distilling for four generations.
El Pandillo not only makes the best tequila in the world but is one of the most sustainable distilleries. Innovations include mosto warming tanks, eco-farming practices, rooftop rain collection, vinaza treatment, solid agave waste recycling, and not a drop of water is wasted at the distillery.
Volans operations are based in Idaho, making it the only Idaho based tequila company. Volans Tequila is made with pride using historical and traditional tequila-making methods, while also embracing sustainability and innovation.
TEQUILA WE MAKE
EXTRA AÑEJO
An Extra Añejo tequila is one that is aged for a minimum of three years.
This is what gives the tequila such a complex and sophisticated flavor. The agave is cooked in a steam-powered traditional stone oven, with a blend of natural spring, deep-well and rainwater.
Our Extra Añejo is aged for three and a half years in used American white oak bourbon casks, which gives it a soft and light oakiness. Made with rain, spring and deep well water, it has just the right balance of minerality.
REPOSADO
The newest member of the Volans Family is our Reposado Tequila. It is ‘rested’ in used American white oak bourbon barrels for under one year. This imparts complexity, aromas, & flavors.
AROMAS: Fruity & earthy aromas along with oak, vanilla, cinnamon, clove, & minerals.
FLAVORS: A rich and buttery mouthfeel with flavors of agave, minerals, subtle oak, caramel, and a sweet & peppered finish.
BLANCO
The blanco version of tequila is the product that is obtained after distillation. It contains 40% alcohol content and is unaged.
Our Blanco is a classic. It’s an easy-to-drink agave-forward spirit with light hints of vanilla and citrus. Our blanco tequila has also been oxygenated, which helps remove some unwanted chemicals and compounds, accentuating the sweetness of the natural agave. Made with rain, spring and deep well water, it has just the right balance of minerality. Plus, there’s a bit of a black pepper finish for an added kick.

Catering to the opinions and palates of the discerning public, the SIP Awards presents a unique, spirit judging competition, unaffected by industry bias. This pragmatic and refreshing model of evaluation provides an honest stage for feedback and recognition where top brands showcase their achievements.
Gold: 93 Points – San Diego Wine & Spirits Challenge – 2019
The San Diego International, founded in early 1982, is a commercial wine & spirits competition on a mission to recognize excellence in the commercial production of adult beverages.
Gold: Denver Spirits Competition – 2019-2020
The largest and most respected spirits competition in the Rocky Mountain region. All spirits are tasted double-blind by a prestigious panel of beverage professionals, sommeliers and trade members.
Gold: Volans Blanco: Tequila Mezcal Challenge – 2019
Tequila Mezcal Challenge was held on October 19, 2019, at The Omni Interlocken Resort, Broomfield, Colorado. This competition is the first double-blind, professionally judged spirits competition dedicated to defining excellence in more than 60 categories of Tequila, Mezcal and Agave spirits. The judges tasted approximately 50 different products.
Verified 100% Additive Free
In 2020, Tequila Matchmaker / Taste Tequila launched their ‘Verified Additive Free’ Program for brands and distilleries to be super transparent about their processes and non-use of additives in tequila. This certification needs to be renewed each year and ensures there are no sweeteners, flavors, colors, aromas, glycerin, or anything else.
Volans Tequila is made with 3 ingredients – Water (from 3 sources), Blue Weber Agave, and Natural Yeast. That’s it.
