Ginger-Infused Simple Syrup Recipe
- 1/2 cup – Shredded Ginger
- 1 cup – Water
- 1 cup – Sugar (We used Organic Coconut Sugar)
Peel the skin off the ginger, then finely shred it. You can also cut the ginger up in fine bits, but I prefer to shred it to emphasize the ginger flavor in the syrup.
In a saucepan, pour in the water & sugar and stir until it’s dissolved. Just before it boils, put in your ginger and stir continuously until it just begins to boil. Turn down heat to a low simmer for 3-5 mins. Let the ginger simple syrup cool in the pan for 30 to 60 mins, or until cooled. This is where you can have a lighter ginger infused flavor or a robust flavor. It’s not all that different than brewing tea.
After everything has cooled strain into a storage container. I use an olive oil style glass container with a pour spout. It makes it easy to store and really easy to pour for drinks. Use it for margaritas, mojitos, lemonade, or anywhere you need a little ginger infused sweetness.
